Waverley TBS has produced a "definitive beer bible" for pubs listing details of the 85 world beers it distributes. The Beers of the World catalogue includes tasting notes, information on breweries plus details of PoS material. Each entry also features ideas for linking the beers with food and recommended glassware. As part of the company's initiative to support beer in pubs, licensees are also being offered free colour-printed beer menus.

Pusser's to mark Trafalgar date

Pusser's Rum hopes to sail ahead of the opposition with a new marketing drive to mark the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar. Distributor Cellar Trends, which bought the brand in April, said it planned to create a series of cocktails to reflect the spirit's naval heritage as well as promoting it as a sipping rum.

Scenic addsthree reserves

Booker has extended its Scenic Wine Ridge brand to include three new reserves which it hopes will enable licensees to benefit from the rising consumer confidence in purchasing more expensive wines. Sold under the wholesaler's own label Malt House Vintners portfolio, the three are a Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Wakefield pulls plug on cork

Wakefield Wines has ditched corks across its range in favour of screwcaps in a move that reflects a growing trend in the industry. Wakefield Estate's Mitchell Taylor said: "As a winemaker, I'm sick of having my wine at the mercy of a bit of cork." The company said it had found screwcaps increased the wine's fruit character.
