First-time buyers have snapped up a food-led pub in North Yorkshire.

The Galphay Inn, set in the centre of the village of Galphay, is close to Ripon and the conference town of Harrogate.

"After three years, Robert and Samantha MacArthur decided to sell due to other business interests," said Andrew Spencer, of Christie & Co's Leeds office.

"The inn was sold to Paul and Paula Crompton for an undisclosed sum. The couple are new to the pub trade, but have plenty of ideas for expanding the business and possibly developing the letting accommodation."

The stone-built detached property features exposed beamwork, an open fireplace and a stone-flagged floor.

The business comprises a 16-cover lounge bar, a 30-cover restaurant area, a catering kitchen and laundry and storage areas. On the first floor the owner's accommodation has a lounge, bathroom and three double bedrooms with access available to the catering kitchen and laundry room.

Externally, there is a good- sized gravelled car park for 30 cars and an unutilised patio area, which could be developed as a beer garden or barbecue area.
