Dishes created by four Manchester catering students are being served up to customers at Hydes pubs around the city.
The brewer challenged City College Manchester to come up with a new dish using its flagship beer brands, Jekyll's Gold and Manchester's Finest.
Students from catering courses submitted their recipes, from which four finalists were chosen for a 'cook off' at the college.
Although one final winner was chosen, the quality was so high that Hydes catering team have decided that all four finalist recipes will now become part of the food pubs "specials"
The winners are: 1st - Johan Lemmers with Brewers Stew with Mustard Grain Mash; 2nd - Peter Irlam with Meat Loaf with Golden Shallots and Three Beers; 3rd - Jamie Ward with Beer Braised Barnsley Chop; 4th - Don Kinsey with Breast of Turkey with Orange, Apricot and Beer Stuffing.
The students were presented with prizes of personalised chefs whites, knives and vouchers to dine in Hydes pubs of their choices. Their recipes will remain on the Hydes specials board for a minimum of three months.
Hydes catering manager Jimmy Cooke said: "The brewery has an ongoing relationship with the college has been delighted with the quality of the competition entrants. It is wonderful to see such talent coming through the college as it is this local talent that will be essential to our business moving forward.
"We take great care in the selection of dishes for our pub menus, and look forward to seeing what our customers think of these new additions."
