A licensee was hit with a two-year Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) after he put a sign up saying "porking yard" in his car park.
Bristol magistrates ordered Leroy Trought not to display the sign after some members of the Muslim community complained that the sign was "racially and sexually offensive".
Trought's pub, the Swan with Two Necks in St Judes, Bristol, is next to a Somali mosque, and some members of the Muslim community believed it was put up deliberately to cause offence.
But Trought said the sign was put up because the area had traditionally had a lot of butchers.
"We ran a competition in the pub to think of a funny name for the car park and one of the customers came up with the porking yard', which just seemed to fit," Trought said.
"To receive an ASBO for this is a joke. We had no intention to cause any offence. What really annoys me is the complaints that the sign is sexually offensive. Well, I can't see anything sexual about it. The people who thought this up must have dirty minds."
