"Because we are a tenancy, the brewery is doing our house licence for the first two years. We are applying for the personal licence, and the brewery is helping with that, too.
"It has been a bit longwinded but luckily we've had help from Wadworths independents might find it more worrying. But the extra costs are going to have to filter through somehow.
"We want to put on live music but we hear conflicting things. Our area manager says once we have entertainment [written into the premises licence] we would have more flexibility. But these sort of things are fairly hazy, aren't they?"

"We're very fortunate because Charles Wells has been pro-active in helping its licensees. We've had a workshop where all the pubs get together on a regional basis to deal with queries. Our application was through last week and the BDM (Business Development Manager) will help us. We pay a small fee to the brewery but they're probably stumping up 10 times that amount."

"We've had good assistance from the area manager, who has taken it under her wing to look after us. She's gone through the forms with us. It takes the stress out of it because it's complicated and there's lots of paperwork to read through."

"We haven't done anything about it yet. The council haven't sent us anything, either. We've got until August, haven't we? I've spoken to Young's and they said there's plenty of time but it's getting on a bit."
