Budweiser Budvar has unveiled plans to keg and rack its draught lager where it is produced in the Czech Republic to beef up its reputation as an "authentic" imported beer.
Currently the lager is transported from its brewery in southern Bohemia to Everards in Leicester where it is transferred into kegs.
Neville Hall, Budweiser Budvar UK's on-trade sales director, said: "Everards did a great job for us for many years, making a major contribution to the development of our draught brand and we owe them a big thank you for that.
"Everards will now be supplying new Czech kegs to their own customers. During last year we trialled Czech kegs in the south of England with outstanding results and great consumer feedback, which convinced us that kegging at source was the way to go."
The company also believes the design of its keg, which is said to protect the beer from damage as well as help in maintaining a constant temperature, will give consumers a better pint.
Hall added that pubs usingthe Czech keg would discover "improved head retention within the glass".
