Veteran leisure entrepreneur Adam Page is planning to re-open part of his former Terraza nightclub in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, as a table dancing and cabaret club.

Page opened Terazza nightclub last year in Stoke but closed the operation soon afterwards. Half of the building was re-opened in December as the Memphis Pool Lounge, which has traded strongly since.

Page has also applied for planning consent to turn part of the building into a bar with a licensed garden terrace. The Terazza complex is now known as the Place its name when it was owned by managed operator Spirit.

Page, founder of the Zanzibar operator Springwood, said: "I took the short period of closure (of Terazza) to redirect the business into what I think will be a more sustainable and viable format. I don't wish to become embroiled in the binge-drinking market that is saturating town centres including Hanley £1 drinks all night and three for one (deals) are common offers.

"Half of the building has traded very successfully and has a very viable future.

"It was notable that on New Year's Eve it was very busy, unlike many nightclubs in Hanley that has less than 50% occupancy."

Page is an experienced operator of pool and snooker clubs he currently runs a successful club in Derby.

He added: "I bought the Place not only for its licensed trading potential, but because in the long term it has excellent development potential.

"The Place is freehold and is ideally suited to benefit from the regeneration of an old town, which is now being rapidly developed."
