TV chef Keith Floyd has been banned from driving for 32 months after crashing his car while more than three times the legal alcohol limit.
Swindon Magistrates Court heard how Floyd crashed his Peugeot people carrier head-on into a Land Rover Discovery on a country road near Coleshill, Wiltshire, on 9 November.
The passenger of the other car suffered minor injuries.
Floyd, 60, said he had drunk two glasses of whisky at lunchtime.
The court was told how police arrived at the scene to discover Floyd "smelling strongly of intoxicating liquor". A test showed 120 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Floyd, who also received a £1,500 fine, issued a Christmas warning to fellow motorists. He said: "It's Christmas time, enjoy yourselves, get drunk at home but don't drive. I was guilty as charged. This is the first time in 41 years that I have had any kind of driving offence."
Magistrates warned the chef that he had committed an "extremely serious offence because your reading is high and a collision occurred".
