The secret of a good promotion is the quality of its point-of-sale (PoS) material, say Greene King pub managers.

The success of the Greene King cask beer month promotion, which ran in the company's managed estate in October, has been put down to the strength of the promotional material.

Pubs taking part were given a variety of kits including pin-up posters and prize offers for consumers. Customers could win IPA-branded glasses and limited-edition pewter tankards.

Annie Power, manager of the Golden Fleece in London, said: "I really like to give something back to my customers. The branded glass promotion worked so well that I had to ask for a new batch of them."

Dan Beynon, manager of the Old Tea Warehouse, also in London, said: "If I am honest a lot of the kits I am given are no good at all but I was really happy with this one and our sales went up. It kept my punters in the pub longer."
