Guinness has been launched in a pint-sized can, aimed at venues that don't supply the stout on draught. The 530ml cans are designed to fill a pint glass. Warwick Nash from the Big Food Group at Diageo, Guinness' owners, said there is "huge potential" for the can in the on-trade. "Consumers love a pint of Guinness whenever they go out, but many outlets do not have Guinness on draught due to low beer volumes," explained Nash. "With the Guinness Perfect Pour Can now available, consumers in outlets such as style bars, restaurants and theatres, now have the opportunity to enjoy the taste of Guinness perfectly poured wherever they are in the on-trade." Diageo said the can would also allow the stout to be served more quickly, making it useful for venues where the drink is particularly popular. A previous attempt to make Guinness service faster the FastPour one-pour dispenser was shelved in May, as customers said they preferred the ritual of the two-part pour. But Diageo's Paul Flanagan denied the quick serve was the main focus of the new can. "FastPour was about pouring a pint faster. The can is targeted more at outlets that don't have Guinness on draught.
