A television show featuring Britain's most eccentric pubs and bizarre drinking rituals will hit screens in February. Britain's Wildest will be shown on Sky One and promises to un-cover the UK's strangest alcohol-related habits, according to production firm September Films. "We want to show people who go out and do something a bit different on a night out," said programme researcher Charlotte Leslie. "It's not about students who go out and steal road signs, but finding people with that British sense of innovation and fun." The programme includes a "mystical" Midlands pub where pints stick to the nicotine-stained walls, and a running club where joggers are punished by the pint for poor performances. Jim Minton, director of communications and campaigns at the Portman Group, said: "We hope the show will back the Portman Group's message if you do do drink then don't do drunk." However, Leslie denies that Britain's Wildest will encourage binge drinking. "We are not condoning irresponsible behaviour. It's an un-opinionated look at what people get up to," she said. The show is to be filmed in front of a live audience with viewers encouraged to send in tapes of their own adventures. It will be transmitted after 9pm. l Is your pub a haven for eccentrics or do your regulars enjoy a drink in a different fashion? Contact Max Gosney on 01293 610234 ormax.gosney@william-reed.co.uk
