The Manor House Hotel, which overlooks Lindisfarne Castle, Priory and Harbour ­ the principal landmarks of the mystical Holy Island in Northumberland ­ has been sold amidst strong interest for the full asking price of £575,000, through Christie & Co. After 18 years of ownership, proprietors George and Jennifer Ward sold the business to John Barlow from Sunderland, Tyne & Wear. The 19th century Victorian property is set on Holy Island, historically one of the UK's most important centres for Christianity. The island is separated from the mainland for five hours, twice a day, but can be accessedat low tide via a causeway, when it becomes a magnet for tourists.
