The Plymouth office of agent Robert Barry & Co is offering for sale the Rivercroft Hotel in Looe, Cornwall, on behalf of its clients the Cairns family, which has owned the business for the last 27 years.

The Rivercroft provides 11 en-suite bedrooms, and four three star self-catering apartments.

There is also a 52-cover restaurant, and a good-sized separate bar.

Everything has been designed to take advantage of the excellent water views.

Situated on the main road into Looe, and occupying one of the best positions in the town, the Rivercroft is superbly placed to attract custom from the huge number of visitors who come to pick their way through the attractive narrow streets in the historic centre and enjoy the safe bathing beach, which is only five minutes away.

The vendor, a husband-and-wife team, purchased the hotel 27 years ago, which is a great testament as to how much they have enjoyed their time, not only at the hotel but also in Looe.

Each year the Cairns have continually reinvested in the hotel, and in addition to building self catering apartments and a house, the property has been rewired and re-plumbed and all the roof coverings have been renewed.

"After so many years, our clients would now be the first to admit that they have taken a back seat recently and that there are plenty of opportunities for younger hands to drive the business forward," says the agent.

Robert Barry's Ian Ridley commented: "The Rivercroft is certain to generate a tremendous amount of interest, not only because of its superb views and being on the sunnier side of the estuary, but also it is very rare for owners to have stayed in one business for so many years.

This just goes to show not only what a great business the Rivercroft is, but also how much Mr and Mrs Cairns have enjoyed their time in Looe.
