Meeting to hit out against Sky's price increases
Publicans are being urged to attend a meeting to voice their protests against the recent Sky price hikes.
The Federation of Licensed Victuallers' Associations (FLVA) and a group of MPs, including chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group John Grogan, have organised the meeting for Wednesday September 17 in London.
It will be chaired by MP for Clwyd South Martyn Jones and there will be a series of speakers including Mr Grogan and Rogan Taylor, director of the football industry group at Liverpool University.
Tony Payne, chief executive of the FLVA (pictured), wants licensees to write to their local MP to get them to sign up Mr Jones' Early Day Motion. Mr Jones tabled the motion in the House of Commons in July in protest against Sky's pricing policy.
Mr Payne said: "If there is a great deal of interest from MPs in the debate then people start to listen. The most important thing is that licensees come along to this meeting and show their support."
The meeting will take place at the Grimond Room, Portcullis House, London, from 5.15pm to 6.15pm on September 17.
