promise The Black Swan Inn at Trenholme Bar, near the North Yorkshire market town of Northallerton and the Yorkshire Moors, will be offering a taste of the Orient following its recent sale.

Margaret Davison and her husband and two daughters had owned the leasehold interest in the Black Swan for two years and ran it as a family concern.

They have sold it in order to purchase a freehold pub the Kaur Arms in Thirsk.

The Davisons are well known locally, having been in the licensed trade for many years.

They previously operated another local pub nearby.

The purchaser of the Black Swan Inn, Mr Wan from Wakefield, is planning to introduce an Oriental menu at the pub.

He already owns a successful Chinese food-led business.

The Black Swan Inn has a prominent main road location at the crossroads of Trenholme Lane and the A19 (southbound), a busy road linking Teesside to North Yorkshire.

It is a detached, refurbished property comprising public bar, lounge bar/50-cover restaurant, catering kitchen and two-bedroom owner's accommodation.

Outside, there is a beer garden, patio seating area, children's play area, car park, land to the side of the property and two attached buildings that have scope for conversion to four letting chalets.

Andrew Spencer, from the Leeds office of Christie & Co, commented: "The Black Swan is a popular, food-led inn in a lovely location close to the York Moors.

"We are currently experiencing strong demand for quality, food-led pubs throughout Yorkshire, whether freehold or leasehold."

The Black Swan was sold through the Leeds office of agent Christie & Co for an undisclosed figure from an asking price of £100,000 for the remaining 11 years of the current lease.
