The quick sale of the Weston Hotel in Scarborough reflects the strong demand for coastal hotels in Yorkshire, according to property agent Christie & Co. In fact, the agent has reported a successful run of recent hotel sales in 18 months it has sold 12 hotels in the area and currently has five others under offer. Sold to first-time hotel buyers Nick and Sara Allen, the Weston's vendors were Granville and Janet Jefferies. The Weston has one of the finest locations in Scarborough, overlooking the South Bay, with views across to the harbour. The Spa complex is easily accessible via a cliff lift near the hotel and the town centre is a short walk away. This five-storey, stone-built, 19th-century property comprises 39 en-suite letting bedrooms, reception hall, 60-cover dining room, bar, function room to accommodate 70, residents' lounge, owner's flat, covered service yard and double garage. Leigh Parsons, of the Leeds office of Christie & Co, said: "The deal with Mr and Mrs Allen was struck within just three weeks of instruction and left several disappointed parties who narrowly missed out on the opportunity." The Weston was sold for the asking price of £665,000 for the freehold.
