Pubmaster has today revealed a new campaign to reward the unsung heroes of the Northeast of England - many of which may turn out to be its own customers. Joining forces with the Northeast & Cumbria's biggest Sunday newspaper, 'The Sunday Sun' its campaign "Champions of the North" aims to identify and reward those extraordinary people from the region.
Launched this week, rather than focusing on the numerous celebrities and their heroics we often hear about, this campaign is about recognising those people who have shown incredible courage and bravery, in addition to those who campaign relentlessly with little or no recognition for their own particular cause.
Many of these people will be the topic of conversation in their local pub - so where better to hear about these people and their stories than direct from their local communities they live in, and the pubs in which they socialise! Exclusively available only in Pubmaster pubs, over 400 throughout the Northeast & Cumbria will have nomination forms and ballot boxes, for customers to nominate in eight different categories. These range from Champion Child of Courage to Champion Act of Bravery. In addition Pubmaster is ensuring that licensee's community efforts are rewarded with the Champion Pubmaster Licensee Award.
As a supporter of such initiatives as "Pub is the Hub", Pubmaster believes this is another fantastic opportunity to cement a pubs links with their communities. "As the region's biggest pub company, and with our Head Office in Hartlepool, Pubmaster is delighted to be associated with an initiative at the heart of the community in this region," said John Sands, Pubmaster Executive Chairman. "Over 70 per cent of our 3200 pubs are community locals and therefore are ideal locations to discover the unique individuals who deserve our recognition and support."
Providing an excellent opportunity for pubs to reward their own customers, over the next three months the Sunday Sun and Pubmaster will be looking to discover and reward the worthy winners. The campaign, endorsed by local celebrities, including Sir Bobby Robson, Denise Welch, Niall Quinn, Steve McClaren, Rob Andrew & Jonathan Edwards, will run throughout the summer and be crowned at a Grand Gala Awards Evening in September.
