The sole pub in the village of Hilton, near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, has been sold through the Ipswich office of agents Christie & Co following strong interest. The Prince of Wales dates back to the 1830s and is located in Potton Road. It is a traditional country inn set in a picturesque village in the heart of the countryside, yet conveniently placed for visiting Huntingdon, St Ives and Cambridge. The business has been sold ­ on behalf of Mike and Helen Smith ­ to Karen and Simon Perry for an undisclosed figure, from an asking price of £330,000 for the freehold. The property comprises lounge bar, public bar, catering kitchen, two-bedroom owners' accommodation, four en suite letting bedrooms, car park, enclosed patio and private yard. The letting accommodation currently has a four-diamond commendation from the AA and a similar rating from the English Tourism Council. The pub is featured in the Camra Good Beer Guide and has a growing reputation for good quality, home-cooked food, which currently accounts for about 20% of the trade. Christie's Bill Colquhoun commented: "The sale of the Prince of Wales generated stiff competition amongst prospective buyers, resulting in a number of genuine offers. "This sale demonstrates the huge ongoing demand for freehold pubs, not only in Cambridgeshire, but throughout the whole East Anglian region.
