JD Wetherspoon is counting the cost after football hooligans trashed another of its city centre pubs for the second time in a month. Sixteen people were arrested after fans wrecked the Prince of Wales pub near the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff after the Bristol City and Carlisle United match in the LDV Vans Trophy final on Sunday. Riot police were called at 5pm when around 200 fans started throwing furniture around and smashing glasses and panels. It is believed thousands of pounds were stolen from the pub's game machines. A doorman was taken to hospital after being stabbed above the ear with glass. Wetherspoon's spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "All we can do is totally condemn what has happened. Apparently we were the only pub open in the centre of Cardiff at the time. "Before the match there was no trouble whatsoever and there were families in there eating. It must have been a very frightening situation for them." Police emptied the pub and closed off a street to escort fans, the majority of them Bristol City supporters, to the train station. The pub re-opened on Monday. Lloyds No 1 in Glasgow, which is Wetherspoon's biggest outlet in Scotland, was also attacked by football hooligans on 16 March following the "Old Firm" CIS Cup Final.
