  • The Hare and Hounds in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, is up for sale for an asking price of £150,000. The pub is being sold as part of a rationalisation of Greene King's estate following the acquisition of Old English Inns. Situated between the River Thames and Chilton Hills, the traditional 16th century country pub has a food-led trade and used to brew its own beer. Greene King also recently sold the freehold of the Old Coaching Inn in Faringdon, Oxfordshire as part of the rationalisation for an asking price off £600,000. Punch Pub Company is continuing on the acquisition trail with the purchase of the freehold of the Castle Tavern in Worthing, East Sussex, for a price in excess of £380,000. The sale was handled by agent Chesterton. In Devon and Somerset Punch has bought three pubs: the Boringdon Arms at Turnchapel, The Office in Plymouth and the Victory Inn in Allerford. The Boringdon Arms is a community local that serves cask conditioned ales was sold for an asking price of £459,000. The Office is a wet-led community local which is home to darts, euchre and pool teams. It was sold for an asking price of £230,000. The £575,000 Victory Inn is a rural freehouse with strong food sales. Bettesworths handled the sales.

Robert Barry & Co has expanded its national operation with the opening of a new office in Birmingham. The office will cover pub sales from the Black Country across to the East Midlands and will cover cities such as Nottingham, Derby, Stoke, Coventry and Leicester. The local family-orientated pub enjoys a mixed trade between locals, staff and visitors from the nearby hospital. Bristol pub the London Inn has been sold to the London Inn Group for an asking price of £245,000. It is situated at the end of the main shopping area and benefits from a passing trade from the town centre as well as the surrounding residents. It also has a beer garden, barbecue and picnic style benches. Druce Hotels & Leisure handled the sale.

A four-storey Grade II-listed building in Hartlepool which dates from 1913 has been earmarked for redevelopment. Planning permission has been granted to convert the upper floors of the site into a 60-bedroom hotel and a large part of the first floor has already been converted. The ground floor of the site has a nightclub called Club Passion and a separate feeder bar. There is also the opportunity for the new owners to gain planning permission to transfer the site into alternative uses such as residential, office and retail development.
