The Portman Group has relaunched its anti-drink drive campaign 'I'll be Des' in partnership with Coors Brewers and delivery company Tradeteam.

Following the success of the original campaign, which was launched in 1999, it aims to reduce deaths and injuries from drink-driving by encouraging people to designate a non-drinking driver.

Coors and Tradeteam will be helping the industry watchdog by assisting with the national distribution of leaflets and promotional material to pubs.

The Portman Group's chief executive Jean Coussins said: "We are encouraging anyone who's going out drinking with friends and family to take on board the 'don't drink n' drive' message by always designating a non-drinking driver to get home safely."

The group, which monitors the alcoholic drinks industry, has also released its annual Code of Practice report today (Tuesday). The report reveals that there were more complaints made against alcoholic drinks in 2002 than ever before - more than 150 compared to 57 in 2001.

On a positive note, there was also an increase in the number of requests from drinks companies for advice on acceptable packaging before being launched.
