Revolution, the vodka bar chain owned by Inventive Leisure, is opening larger scale units as part of its roll-out plans. The company said economies of scale mean that bigger units can be developed less expensively and generate more revenue per square foot. Its outlets of around 3,700sq ft have an average weekly turnover of £33,000 per week while smaller sites of around 2,400sq ft are only turning over £17,000 per week. This is because the larger units are better positioned and have wider market appeal.
Jongleurs, the comedy club chain owned by Regent Inns, has signed a deal for a new 16,000sq ft site in Leeds. Its Walkabout chain has also signed a deal for a city centre site in Middlesbrough with an annual rent of £160,000 per annum. The deals were conducted by agent Jeremy Rubin & Co.
