tale down at the Beehive A Grantham pub has been forced to put up a sign warning of bees after someone complained to the local council about being stung. Landlady of the aptly-named Beehive pub, Tina Hayward, was stunned when an environmental health officer came to investigate a complaint about one of the bees in the pub's own sign which doubles as a working hive the only one of its kind in the country. Hayward said she had heard rumours that someone had complained about a bee sting, but never expected it to result in an official investigation. She was advised by the district council to put up a sign warning that bees lived in the tree hive. The bees are one of the town's major tourist attractions and have been protected since 1969. Hayward said: "The bees had been emptied that day by Grantham beekeeper Dave Hallam, so were a bit lively. But that's normal procedure you have to collect the honey." South Kesteven District Council confirmed there had been a complaint about a bee sting.
