ThePublican.com is offering its users access to free training as part of a major new trade initiative to launch in April.

The new event, called the Hospitality Training Festival, was introduced in reaction to increasing concern within the trade over a predicted skills shortage and is aimed at promoting the importance of training and improving training levels in the UK's pubs.

It will run for three days from April 9 this year at London's Olympia 2 venue and will feature 15 seminar theatres, each housing training courses for licensees and barstaff attending the show.

The event has the support of the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers and the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII), which will be running courses ranging from the basic National Licensee's Certificate to the latest Doorstaff qualification using accredited trainers.

Quantum Business Media, producer of thePublican.com, has invested £250,000 in the show, meaning there will be no charge for those attending the courses. Attendees will also be able to sit the end exam for their course at the show for a nominal fee of around £40 to cover the cost of the course material and administration - a fraction of the usual fee.

Courses available at the festival include the Licensed Retail Business Development Certificate, the Licensees' National Drugs Certificate and the Leadership and Motivation Certificate.

Places for this event are obviously limited and must be pre-booked on a first come, first served basis.

For more information or to book you or your staff on to any of the courses please contact event organiser Foy Harries on 0208 565 4418.
