The Rebellion Beer Company, based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, has embarked on a crusade against penny-pinching pint lovers in an effort to broaden its on-trade distribution.
The company, which introduces a new beer every month under the "frugal" theme, is to launch Cash Free into pubs in October. Previous brews include Free Loader, Tight Fisted and Round Avoider.
Tim Coombes, Rebellion's co-founder, said: "You have to experiment with names and packaging because with more than 400 brewers all making a very similar product, niche marketing becomes impossible."
As well as the flagship beers, Rebellion Blonde and IPA, Mr Coombes has launched Rebellion White, a Belgian style wheat beer that has already won first prize in the white beer category at the Society of Independent Brewers awards.
This eclectic range of brewing styles is testament to a lucrative deal agreed two years ago with Rebellion's higher profile neighbours from the Courage brewery.
Following the takeover of Courage by Scottish & Newcastle, Mr Coombes purchased product development equipment which, he says, provides the flexibility to brew a huge range of beers and lagers.
"We were quite lucky really as it's the kind of kit you could never afford to buy as a small brewer and it gives us an advantage over competitors," he said.
Until now, Rebellion's range of draught and bottled beers has rarely been seen outside a 40-mile radius of the brewery, but plans are afoot to target pubs from London to the Midlands and step up production from 70 to 200 barrels a week.
