Bar operator Davy & Co is investing in its first chains of retail concepts as part of its expansion.

It initially plans up to six outlets branded under the name Heeltap and Bumper, a modern female-friendly wine bar with food.

Operating more than 50 sites mainly in London, the company is also developing a chain of café-bars under the name of Mullins & Westley.

The first Heeltap and Bumper opened in Borough High Street in London last year and the second in the capital's Cannon Street last month.

The company hopes to move it into three or four further sites in central London and the City.

The first Mullins & Westley opened in Covent Garden in July, featuring modern orange-coloured decor, and another is planned for St James's.

A second café-bar concept has been created on the first floor of an existing site, Truckles, in Bloomsbury.

Property director Tim Langley-Hunt said: "They will not all be identical but will continually evolve. We are looking for sites at all levels and not just for concepts."
