Greene King Pub Partners has opened its fifth Nest Pub – the Red Lion in Chesham, Buckinghamshire – following a £375,000 investment.

Launched in 2021, Hive pubs was the original concept of the brand and now operates more than 50 sites. Since the opening of the original Nest Pub in March this year, the franchise has grown significantly in the span of three months to five functioning sites currently.

Wet-led and mainly on busy high streets, Nest Pubs are centred around communities offering various sports and entertainment options, with a particular focus on sporting aligned with the main concept of the name.

Every Nest Pub has Sky Sports and TNT Sport subscriptions, with pub quiz, live music and karaoke entertainment options also available.

Next chapter

Each also provides a variety of food and drink options including beer, ale, wines, spirits and coffee as well as low and no options, alongside easy-to-serve pizzas.

Red Lion franchise owner Ollie Roberts said: “I am really excited to take the step up and run my own pub business as a Nest Pubs franchisee. The franchise agreement and Nest Pubs concept means I have a ready-to-trade pub business and full support of Greene King.

“Having previously managed the Red Lion, I am excited for its next chapter and to continue serving the community I am so close to.”

Mainly catered to individuals with hospitality management experience looking to run their own business with support, a franchisee is able to get the keys to their own Nest Pub for £3,000.

Incredible achievement

Franchisees also earn a percentage of the net weekly turnover of their pub, partnered with a quarterly percentage of business profits and annual bonuses.

Greene King Pub Partners managing director Dan Robinson said: “Reaching the milestone of five Nest Pubs in just three months is an incredible achievement and my thanks goes to the team and our wonderful franchisees.

“As a wet-led pub concept with a very compelling, but simple to deliver food offer, we believe Nest Pubs has a lot of potential. We’ll continue to grow the concept this year alongside Hive Pubs and supporting our core leased & tenanted partners.”
