In pictures: pubs in the running at the 2018 Restaurant and Bar Design awards

Now in its 10th year, the Restaurant and Bar Design awards celebrate design excellence at food and drink venues.

Thirteen pubs from across England and Wales – including the 2017 John Smith's Great British Pub of the Year winner, the Eagle & Child in Ramsbottom – are in with a chance of scooping the 2018 pub category award, with the winner to be announced on 4 October after deliberation by a panel of judges. 

Last year's pub category award was won by No197 Chiswick Fire Station, in Chiswick, London. 

The pubs in the running for this year's award are:

• The Butcher's Tap in Marlow, Buckinghamshire - designed by Tibbatts Abel
• The Chain Locker in Falmouth, Cornwall - designed by Design Management Partnership
• The Coach in Beaumaris, Anglesey, north Wales - designed by Turnerbates Design & Architecture 
• The Eagle & Child in Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester - designed by IMD & Associates
• Mc & Sons in Borough, London - designed by Ryan Mc Elhinney
• No.29 Power Station West in Battersea, London - designed by Box 9 Design
• Pier Five in Chatham, Kent - designed by Architecture Design 
• The Black Horse in Thame, Oxfordshire - designed by Inhouse Design
• The Boars Head in Nantwich, Cheshire - designed by IMD & Associates
• The George Hotel in Brecon, Powys, central Wales - designed by Harrison Ince
• The Litton in Radstock, Somerset - designed by Simple Simon Design 
• The Methuen Arms in Corsham, Wiltshire - designed by Concorde BGW
• The Oxford Blue, Old Windsor, Berkshire - designed by Fettle Design
