Ma Egerton’s, which dates back to 1869, has welcomed celebrities including Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Amy Winehouse, Harry Houdini, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.
Situated adjacent to Lime Street Station, its neighbours include gig venue the O2 Academy and the UK’s largest regional theatre, the Liverpool Empire.
The pub is currently owned by actor and businessman Iain Hoskins who is planning on relocating to Los Angeles.
He said: “I am immensely proud of the past three years of hard work in smashing previously unobtainable sales targets and re-inventing this classic pub. She will be very hard to leave behind, but Ma’s a girl who requires 100% devotion and loyalty and so it wouldn’t be practical to manage her remotely.”
The leasehold is being marketed by the Manchester office of Christie + Co.
