Police have closed a Kent pub following complaints over noise, nuisance and rowdy behaviour.
Police closed the Trocadero in Windmill Street, Gravesend after a "string of complaints from businesses and shoppers about noise, nuisance and rowdy behaviour".
Police were called to the premises on 15 separate occasions for incidents of disorder or related offences in the last 10 weeks. There were also several fire regulation breaches found.
The licensee has now left the pub by mutual consent following a meeting between operators Swan Inns, police and Gravesham Borough Council. The pub may reopen later this week pending a meeting with the proposed new licensee.
"We had become aware of numerous breaches of the Licensing Act at these premises and had received a number of complaints from both business and shoppers about the behaviour of those who were drinking at the Trocadero," said Sergeant Graham James.
"Working closely with Gravesham Council, Kent Fire and Rescue and the operator, we were able to take action to close this pub until a new licensee can be put in place.
"The successful closure of the premises also demonstrates that we can and will take action against those who operate with complete disregard for the rules and regulations."
