Two married Oxford graduates say they racked up a whopping ten grand on a tour of pub quiz machines.

The couple, David and Lesley Brewis from Hammersmith, say they won the money playing the game The Big Match on Itboxes.

The technology going into pub entertainment these days is set to bring about a new era in the tradeChris Hawkins, Buzztime.

They used the internet to map out pubs around the country which had the machines then set off on a ten-week trip covering 2,000 miles.

David told the Sun: "There is no cheating involved, no hidden gizmos, just good old-fashioned brains. Some of the questions come up again and again."

Chris Hawkins, marketing director of Buzztime - which provides interactive entertainment systems for pubs - said people walking out with thousands of pounds would become more common in the future.

"The technology going into pub entertainment these days is set to bring about a new era in the trade," he said.

"Prizes supplied by sponsors and technology suppliers create a new reason for people to go to pubs - an important consideration when you're looking at how to cope with a future where smoking is banned.

"While people are in the pub trying to win prizes they will of course be spending money on food and drink as well.

"Well done to the Brewises!"
